HENDERSON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A late-night emergency call led to the arrest of a Henderson man after authorities responded to a report of an altered mental status involving a knife.
At approximately 11:51 p.m. on Monday, 911 dispatchers sent law enforcement to a residence in Mason County after receiving a call about an intoxicated individual, later identified as Brenton Glover. According to reports, Glover was inside the home with his 80-year-old grandmother, and dispatchers lost contact with the caller, raising concerns for her safety.
Upon arrival, officers found Glover barefoot at the end of the driveway. He appeared confused and unaware of why police were there. When questioned, he claimed that his uncle, Kevin, was coming to harm him. Officers informed him they were there to check on his grandmother, to which Glover asked if he was being arrested. When told he was not under arrest at that moment, he responded, “What if she isn’t all right?”
Cpl. J. Ferrell made contact with Glover’s grandmother, Alta Glover, who was visibly distressed. She expressed fear for her life and revealed that she carried a club around the house for protection. According to Alta, earlier that day, Point Pleasant Police had brought Brenton to her home after he was removed from a local Subway restaurant. Once inside, he reportedly began acting erratically while drinking alcohol.
Alta told officers that Glover, believing his uncle was after him, grabbed a knife and began waving it around before sitting down with it. She recounted that he suddenly became enraged and threw the knife while she was seated next to him, fearing she would be struck. She told officers she could no longer allow him to stay in her home due to ongoing fear for her safety.
Law enforcement recovered and photographed the knife before placing Glover under arrest. During transport to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, he reportedly shouted and cursed in the back of the cruiser. He was later taken to Western Regional Jail.
