RANDOLPH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested on multiple charges following a traffic stop.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at approximately 2:14 AM, a deputy was conducting stationary road patrol in the vicinity of U.S. Rt. 219 and Country Club Rd. in Randolph County.
The deputy observed a Jeep Compass travel by at a high rate of speed.
The driver of the Jeep then continued to accelerate at a high rate of speed in a 35 MPH zone, before then turning into a mobile home park in an apparent attempt to evade contact with law enforcement.
The deputy then made contact with the sole occupant of the vehicle who was identified as Malachi Currence.
A subsequent investigation resulted in the deputy charging Currence with Possession of Methamphetamine, Prohibited Person in Possession of a firearm, Obstructing, and No Operators.
He is currently at Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $2,500 cash-only bond.
