HAMLIN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Lincoln County man faces multiple charges following an incident over the weekend in which he unlawfully attempted to prevent his mother from leaving a shared residence.
According to documents from the Magistrate Court of Lincoln County, on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at approximately 11:45am, Senior Trooper Chaffin with the West Virginia State Police responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at the 29 Burns Ridge Road area of Hamlin.
Responders made contact with the victim involved in the incident, who stated that her son – Christopher Burns, 57 years old of Hamlin, WV – had threatened to kill her that morning and had been behaving very aggressively.
When the victim attempted to leave the residence, Burns purportedly made efforts to prevent her from doing so. These included placing his own vehicle behind her vehicle so as to prevent her from driving away from the residence.
As a result of the obstacle, the victim contacted a family member by phone so that they could pick her up. Burns reportedly stood in front of the vehicle of the family member once they arrived as a means of preventing them from taking the victim away from the residence.
Christopher Burns has been charged with Domestic Assault and Unlawful Restraint based on the events reported as part of this incident.
