PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is charged after he allegedly sent nude photos of a woman to multiple people, including police. After learning he was talking to the police, he continued to send the nude photographs.
On September 2, 2024, around 7:00 AM, Sgt. Ferry spoke with a female by phone regarding Cody Basham threatening her. The victim informed me that she had filed for a Domestic Violence Protection (DVP) order against Basham through the Putnam County Magistrate Court, but it had not yet been served.
During our conversation, the victim also disclosed that Basham had been sending nude photographs of her to other people. At 8:07 AM, Sgt. Ferry received an email from the victim containing screenshots of messages between her and Basham. These screenshots showed Basham had sent a topless photo of her to her landlord, as well as multiple other nude pictures of her to various unknown individuals.
Sgt. Ferry attempted to reach Basham by phone several times around 9:44 AM, but he did not answer. Sgt. Ferry then received a text from Mr. Basham’s cell phone that stated, “Who the f*&^ is this u called me 6 times in a row,” followed by “??” and then a screenshot of the naked victim performing oral sex on an unknown male. Sgt. Ferry then advised Mr. Basham who he was and why he needed to speak with him. Sgt. Ferry then briefly talked to Mr. Basham on the phone because he hung up when he began talking. After hanging up on him, he continued to send him text messages.
Some of the messages were videos of the victim performing oral sex on an unknown male and also three pictures of the victim, one showing her privates and two showing her breasts.
Based on Basham’s nonconsensual disclosure of the female victim’s private intimate images. Sgt. Ferry requested a warrant for 20 counts of nonconsensual disclosure of private intimate images to be filed against him through the Putnam County Magistrate Court.
