UPDATE: FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Michael S. Jackson, 43 of Powellton, saw sentencing Tuesday for several sex crimes involving a child.
Jackson was convicted following a two-day jury trial in late July for a number of sexual assaults carried out during the Summer of 2020 for which he stood to recieve up to a 145 year maximum sentence.
Ultimately, Jackson received the minimum sentence for the charges accrued, 61 years.
Nonetheless, general understanding of the average human lifespan dictates that the 43 year old sex offender will, in all likelihood, spend the remainder of his days incarcerated should the issued sentence be carried out in it’s entirety.
The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney of Fayette County referred to the result as “a functional life without parole sentence.”
Jackson’s charges include two counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault, three counts of Sexual Abuse by a Parent, Guardian, or Custodian, two counts of Incest, and one count of First Degree Sexual Assault.
Sentencing for the case was carried out by the honorable Judge Paul M. Blake, Jr. and prosecuted by Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney Anthony Ciliberti, Jr.
