RONCEVERTE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Ronceverte man was removed from a church service and later detained at a local hospital after causing disturbances in both locations on Sunday.
Stephen Kressley was identified as the individual who disrupted the morning service at Ronceverte Baptist Church, located at 437 Main Street West. Church personnel reported that Kressley’s actions caused fear and apprehension among the congregation.
911 dispatch received a call during the service, reporting a male disrupting the congregation. When law enforcement arrived, church staff informed the officer that Kressley had been repeatedly asked to leave but refused, further escalating tensions.
The officer escorted Kressley from the church and secured him on the sidewalk while awaiting further assistance.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on the scene and transported Kressley to CAMC Greenbrier Valley Emergency Room for evaluation. While there, law enforcement learned from 911 dispatch that Kressley had outstanding warrants for his arrest.
At the hospital, Kressley reportedly caused further issues, prompting the involvement of officers from the West Virginia State Police to assist in managing the situation.
The Ronceverte Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident. He was charged with disorderly conduct.
