SUMMERSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A missing persons report filed on Friday, February 14, 2025, led to the discovery of a homicide investigation in Nicholas County.
At approximately 6:46 p.m., West Virginia State Police Trooper L.L. Cox took a report regarding a missing 44-year-old man from Summersville. As the investigation unfolded, authorities determined that a shooting had taken place at the residence of James E. Pileggi in Mount Lookout, WV.
On Saturday, February 15, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., law enforcement located the victim’s deceased body near Tioga, WV. The West Virginia State Police Special Response Team (SRT) and Crime Scene Team were involved in the recovery efforts. The victim was transported by ambulance to Summersville Memorial Hospital for examination by a medical examiner.
Following the investigation, 60-year-old James E. Pileggi of Mount Lookout was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Authorities continue to investigate the case.
