GILMAN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Randolph County man faces charges following a domestic incident on Sunday involving a firearm.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on September 3rd, 2023, at approximately 7:56pm the Deputies responded to 1624 Parsons Road located in the Gilman area of Randolph County, WV with regard to a domestic altercation which had been called in to 911.
Randolph County 911 reported that a female initiated the 911 call and advised dispatchers that two adult individuals were arguing inside a residence and that a gunshot had been heard. As a result, the caller was hiding in a bedroom within the residence at the time the call was made.
Upon the arrival of authorities at the scene at approximately 8:01pm, a male subject identified as Donald Ray Sharp was encountered and subsequently detained. The two females present – the caller and the female involved in the domestic dispute with Sharp – had departed the scene prior to the arrival of officer assistance and were waiting at a nearby church.
Sharp informed officers that during an argument with one of the aforementioned females, he had retrieved a .38 revolver and discharged it within the residence while standing in close proximity to the female. He also stated that the second female had been inside the residence in a bedroom at the time the shot was fired.
Sharped informed deputies that the firearm used in the incident was still in the kitchen cupboard area. Deputies were able to successfully locate the firearm in question, which was found in the kitchen area of the residence after apparently having been placed inside of a container of flour. The firearm had one spent casing in the cylinder and an additional (5) live rounds in the cylinder designed to hold (6) total rounds.
An apparent bullet hole was also located by deputies on the scene and could be seen in the ceiling near the back door of the residence. The female directly involved in the dispute stated that she had been standing directly in front of Sharp at the time the weapon was discharged.
Donald Ray Sharp arrested and charged with Wanton Endangerment Involving a Firearm before being transported to the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
