WAYNE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Wayne County Sheriff Rick Thompson has announced that a suspect wanted for ramming a police cruiser during a pursuit last week was arrested at a residence in Fallsburg, KY by the US Marshals Cuffed Task Force and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff Thompson stated that Last week the Wayne County Sheriff Drug Enforcement Unit initiated a traffic stop on a wanted man who is also known to be trafficking quantities of drugs. The suspect, Shawn ‘Shug’ Risner, fled North on WV RT. 152 from Dunlow.
During the pursuit, the suspect used his truck to ram a Deputy’s cruiser and then side-swiped it. The pursuit went through Big Branch Road and the Black Oak Gap area. The suspect struck the cruiser again as they were maneuvering up a muddy hill. Deputies eventually terminated the pursuit for safety reasons.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Drug Enforcement Unit was able to locate a Glock handgun with an extended magazine and a large bag of Methamphetamine that weighed approximately a quarter pound that was thrown from the vehicle.
Sheriff Thompson stated that Risner is charged with Felony Fleeing, Felony Destruction of Property, Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, Pseudoephedrine Altered, Assault on a Police Officer, and Prohibited Person from Possessing a Firearm. Risner was already wanted for a parole violation.
Sheriff Thompson thanked the US Marshals and Lawrence County deputies for their assistance in tracking down and arresting the fugitive.
