BLUEFIELD, VA (LOOTPRESS) – It has been announced that Marshall University President Brad D. Smith has been selected as the featured speaker at the Community Foundation of the Virginias’ Annual Dinner & Reception on November 9, at Fincastle on the Mountain, Bluefield Virginia.
Smith, a respected innovator, business leader, and philanthropist, is the first Marshall University alumnus to serve as President of the University.
A native of the Mountain State, Smith spoke of his own vision for the University shortly after becoming the 38th president of the university nearly two years ago.
“My ‘why’ is to level the playing field in West Virginia and in Appalachia,” said Smith during his acceptance speech, “and to invest in those who have invested in me. I see Marshall University and the education that it offers as the great equalizer.”
The event at Fincastle on the Mountain, scheduled to take place on November 9, 2023, will begin with a reception at 6:00pm. This will be followed by dinner at 6:45pm, and President Smith’s ‘Have You ‘Herd’ Huddle’ comments afterward.
“Since its establishment in 1992, the Community Foundation of the Virginias, Inc. has supported local non-profit organizations through the Foundation’s mission to improve the region and assist local high school seniors and college students to further their education.”
