1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your experience/accomplishments:
As a lifelong resident of Raleigh County, a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High
School, Bluefield State College and the FBI National Academy, I understand the
values and concerns that matter most to our community. My father was a coal
miner and my mother retired from the Beckley VA Medical Center. I served
Raleigh County as a Deputy Sheriff, Police Officer and Chief of Police in Beckley
for over 25 years.
After retiring from the Beckley Police Department, I worked as
the Enforcement Director for the WV Alcohol Beverage Control Administration.
My wife Nicole and I have been married for 25 years and I have three children.
I’m the only candidate for Magistrate in Division 3 with endorsements from the
Fraternal Order of Police – Black Diamond Lodge, WV Deputy Sheriffs’
Association and recently retired Magistrate Rick Jones. Every step of my law
enforcement career has been driven by a passion for serving our community.
From my days as a Deputy Sheriff to my time as Chief of Police in Beckley, I’ve
had the privilege of working alongside dedicated professionals and learning from
the diverse challenges we face.
2. What motivated you to run for Magistrate:
The decision to run is deeply rooted in a lifelong passion for service and a strong
commitment to our community.
It’s been a blessing to have a long and fulfilling career in this field, gaining
invaluable experience along the way. Now, as I look at the natural progression in
my journey within the criminal justice system, I see an opportunity to step into a
new role – one where I can continue to make a positive impact right here in
Raleigh County.
I believe that now, more than ever, is the best time to step forward and offer my
skills and dedication to our community. I have a deep desire to serve the place
I’ve called home for my entire life, and I am committed to ensuring that our legal
system operates with fairness, respect, and integrity for all.
3. What are some issues facing Raleigh County right now that you would like to see
addressed? How would you attempt resolving those issues?
With years of experience in law enforcement, including leading efforts to combat
narcotics-related crimes, I’ve seen firsthand the harm caused by substance
abuse on our community and families. I believe in holding offenders accountable
while also advocating for rehabilitation and support services for those struggling
with addiction. The people of Raleigh County expect someone with experience
and knowledge of the laws in order to hold offenders accountable.
As your Magistrate, I will prioritize the safety and well-being of our community by
following the law and ensuring that justice is served.
4. What makes you stand out from the rest of the candidates, what do you bring to
the table that they don’t:
Experience that Matters! As your neighbor and fellow resident of Raleigh
County, I understand the unique needs and concerns of our community. My
education and experience has helped lay the foundation for my commitment to
public service, instilling in me the values of integrity, fairness and respect. My
experience has given me a deep understanding of the local landscape, allowing
me to navigate our legal system with insight and compassion.
With your support, I am ready to bring this wealth of experience to the role of
Magistrate, ensuring that justice is served with fairness and equity for all.
Together, let’s build a brighter future for Raleigh County.
Thank you for your support and vote on May 14th.
