MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS)– Christopher Bailey pled guilty to 1st-degree murder and larceny charges on Wednesday, June 30, for killing William Simons back in 2019.
On May 5, 2019, Bailey shot and killed Simons in Mercer County. Officers responded to an abandoned car sitting in the middle of Dawson School Road. They found Simons near the abandoned vehicle, face down on the side of the road with a gunshot wound, and both pockets turned inside out.
On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, Bailey was arrested after a bank contacted authorities after they received a bloody $100 bill. He was found unfit to stand trial and spent time at Sharpe State Mental Hospital to regain competency.
According to Adam Wolfe with the Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, he was immediately sentenced to 25 years in prison by Judge Mark Willis.
