ROCK, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mercer County woman was arrested early Monday morning following a domestic disturbance that was captured on video, according to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies J.P. Conner and W.C. Morrow responded to a call in the Rock area around 12:25 a.m. on June 9, 2025, after Russel Fessel reported his wife, Ashley Lowe, had physically assaulted him.
Fessel told deputies the couple had been arguing throughout the night and provided video evidence of the altercation. The footage reportedly shows Lowe yelling and repeatedly asking Fessel if he wanted to fight before striking him multiple times in the face with a closed fist. Deputies observed a red mark on Fessel’s right cheek, though he declined medical treatment.
Authorities confirmed the couple’s two young children were left in Fessel’s custody.
Lowe, who denied that Fessel had been physical with her, was arrested on charges of domestic battery and domestic assault. She was transported to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office for processing and later taken to Southern Regional Jail.
