MARTINSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mexican national previously removed from the U.S. twice has been sentenced to 14 months in federal prison for illegally reentering the country.
Mario Caseiro-Antonio, 37, was arrested after being stopped for driving under the influence of alcohol, according to court documents.
Law enforcement officers later confirmed he was in the U.S. illegally.
Following his prison term, Caseiro-Antonio will serve one year of supervised release.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Salem and investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest and prosecution were part of Operation Take Back America, a federal initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling transnational criminal organizations, and reducing violent crime.
