HICO, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The strength and bond of the Midland Trail community have shown to be strong following the loss of a beloved student, athlete, and friend.
Following the tragic news of Midland Trail student Damon Mooney’s passing, the community immediately came together to comfort one another and send support to those affected by the tragedy.
On Wednesday morning before the start of class, the students and staff of Midland Trail High School all gathered outside to pray for those affected and provide support for one another.
A GoFundMe has been started to help assist the Mooney family in the days to come, and it has already seen many donations from those within the community. If you would like to donate, please click here.
Mooney was a member of the Midland Trail Football team and donned #66. The Patriots are scheduled to play Wheeling Central Catholic this Friday, and since hearing the news, Wheeling Central has sent their support to the Patriots.
Wheeling Central Catholic Athletics made the following post on X:
“We send our deepest condolences and sympathies to the Midland Trail Football Program and the entire school community. We lift you up in prayer in this difficult time.”
Multiple area schools will be wearing red in remembrance of Damon on Friday, September 15th.
