MULLENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The newly repurposed stage at Mullens Opportunity Center comes alive Saturday, December 9th as the Rural Appalachian Improvement League (RAIL) offers their final theatrical performance of the season.
Samuel Dixon is a rich coal baron that has lost sight of the important things in life. When his partner, dead seven years, comes to warn Samuel that if he doesn’t change his ways he will be punished in the afterlife, Samuel agrees to be visited by three spirits to help him see the good in mankind again. “An Appalachian Christmas Carol” is a modern version of the Charles Dickens classic novel that will pull on your heartstrings and remind you of the true meaning of life this Christmas Season.
This delightful show tells your favorite tale of Scrooge as you’ve never seen it before- with an Appalachian twist when Southern West Virginia Performing Arts present “An Appalachian Christmas Carol” written by Cathy Deobler.
According to Samantha Ingram, Stage Manager and the show’s director “This show is definitely our biggest show yet but definitely the warmest as well. The timeless tale modernized is perfect for this holiday season and the community support is great. We have 18 actors and actresses volunteering their time this season. Our audience members always ask when our next show is going to be and we are so thankful that they are willing to come out and enjoy what RAIL has to offer.”
