UPDATE BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – All seven inmates who overdosed at Southern Regional Jail have been treated and are now back at Southern Regional Jail.
On Sunday, January 15, 2023, seven inmates at Southern Regional Jail gave the appearance of experiencing a drug overdose. The inmates were transported to the hospital and provided appropriate medical treatment; they are alive and are now back at Southern Regional Jail in the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation custody.
No additional information is available at this time as this incident is under investigation by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations Criminal Investigation Division and the West Virginia State Police.

BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Multiple overdoses have been reported at Southern Regional Jail.
Officials report that multiple people have overdosed. It’s not yet known how the inmates got possession of the drugs that caused them to overdose or what the substance was.
Preliminary reports as of this update are that four people have overdosed thus far and were administered NARCAN and CPR.
There was a delay in getting enough ambulances to the jail due to limited availability.
EMS officials were warned to take extra precautions due to the ongoing threat of how the overdoses were happening.
