WHEELING, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A state of emergency has been declared in Ohio County following Saturday evening’s devastating flash flooding that has claimed at least three lives. Governor Patrick Morrisey announced the state-level emergency Sunday morning, with the Ohio County Commission and the City of Wheeling also issuing local emergency declarations.
Emergency responders continue to search for multiple individuals reported missing in the aftermath of the flooding. Authorities are urging the public to avoid impacted areas to allow search and rescue teams and cleanup crews to work without obstruction.
