FALLS MILL, VA (LOOTPRESS)—The Falls Mills Adult Daycare Center recently had their grand opening and open house on May 7th.
This center focuses on caring for special needs adults. Any adult over the age of 18 with special needs that needs supervision is welcomed. Adults at the center will receive meals and activities during their time there.
Executive Director Regina Sayers with the Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens says this center will be an economic driver in the county of Tazewell.
“We will be hiring anywhere from 5 to 25 or more individuals when we get to full capacity,” said Sayers.
This center has been in the works for about eight years and were able to complete it through multiple grants.
“It really is a caregiver stress reliever because you can have your loved one in a safe, healthy environment where they will be receiving USDA approved meals, recreation, and physical and mental cognitive learning,” said Sayers.
The adult center also functions as a multipurpose center with a conference center, commercial kitchen and a medical clinic as well as an occupational therapist.
They hope to have lunch for more independent senior citizens and will also home deliver meals for homebound citizens that live within five minutes of the center. Other events that the adult center is planning involving field trips and gardening activities.
