HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Huntington Fire Department announced the assignment of new Fire Marshal for the City of Huntington on Wednesday.
The announcement came from Huntington Fire Chief Greg Fuller, who himself was sworn in as chief last year, and indicated that Lt. Alan Roby would be taking on the responsibilities of the Fire Marshal position.
Roby, who has served with the fire department for nearly a decade, acted as deputy fire marshal for the department prior to the announcement. He served in this position since February of 2020.
Roby’s appointment will see him filling the shoes of Captain Mat Winters, who recently retired from the department after a quarter-century of service to residents of the Huntington area.
Roby brings an expansive background to the role, holding a bachelor’s degree in fire administration and fire administration from Columbia Southern University, an associate’s degree in fire science from Columbia Southern University, and an associate’s degree in occupational development from Mountwest Community & Technical College.
This educational background comes in addition to technical training certifications in fire investigation from the National Fire Academy.
“Lt. Roby has the necessary education, training and experience to effectively accomplish this assignment,” said Huntington Fire Chief Greg Fuller. “I am confident in his abilities to serve the citizens of Huntington with a high level of professionalism.”
