CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A bill introduced in the West Virginia House of Delegates this week would establish a buy-in program for state residents to attain Medicaid coverage at an affordable rate.
Filed for introduction in the House on Tuesday, House Bill 4001 would amend West Virginia State Code and require the Bureau of Medical Services to apply to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for a Basic Health Plan Option under Section 1331 and/or a State Innovation Waiver under Section 1332 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
The intention of the bill, which is sponsored by House Health and Human Resources Committe Chair, Delegate Summers (R-73) and co-sponsored by Delegate Tully (R-49) – as indicated in the legislation, would be the requirement of the Bureau to apply for the waiver in question.
Additionally, the bill indicates that, if passed, the department shall maximize all available federal dollars for the waiver.
Following its introduction in the House of Tuesday, House Bill 4001 was referred to the House Committee on Health and Human Resources.
