HAMPSHIRE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One individual is confirmed to have passed away as a result of a Monday morning collision along Northwestern Pike.
According to the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office, on December 18, 2023 at about 9:42 A.M. Hampshire County 911 received notification of a two-vehicle accident in the 12000 block of Northwestern Pike.
Multiple Hampshire County Fire and EMS agencies responded to the scene of the accident, along with Corporal Mechelle Sabin and Lieutenant Stuart Davis of the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office and Corporal Drew Bowland of the West Virginia State Police.
A subsequently conducted investigation revealed that a 2015 Jeep Cherokee – driven by Larry Moreland, age 33, of Augusta – had been traveling west on Northwestern Pike, when the Jeep is believed to have traveled left of center.
This caused a head-on collision with a 2022 Hyundai which was driven by Linda Richards of Capon Bridge.
Richards reportedly passed away at the scene as a result of injuries from the crash. Moreland was transported to Winchester Medical Center to receive treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office, and Medical Examiner, Chris Guynn also responded to the scene of the accident.
