BERKELEY COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Berkeley County woman is facing multiple charges after deputies say she was found unconscious behind the wheel and later discovered to be in possession of a significant amount of illegal drugs.
According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 1:12 p.m. Thursday, April 23, when Berkeley County Central Dispatch received a report of a woman passed out inside a vehicle at the Spring Mills Walmart.
Before deputies arrived, the vehicle left the scene traveling south on Williamsport Pike.
Deputy Keller later located the vehicle at the Bedington Crossroads Store, where the driver was again observed “nodding off” behind the wheel. Deputy Webb responded to assist with the investigation.
Authorities said the driver initially provided a false identity but was later identified as 41-year-old Heather Ann Walling of Berkeley County. Deputies also determined Walling was wanted as a fugitive from justice on active felony warrants out of Pennsylvania.
During a DUI investigation, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and reported finding a black box in the center console containing multiple illegal substances, pills, a digital scale and drug paraphernalia.
Walling was taken into custody and transported to the Eastern Regional Jail.
While at the jail, a more thorough search allegedly revealed a baggie containing methamphetamine concealed in her bra. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered additional cash and a locked container holding methadone.
Authorities said the seized items included approximately 17 grams of suspected cocaine, 14 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 3 grams of suspected fentanyl, 11 Xanax bars, six bottles of methadone, and U.S. currency.
Investigators noted the substances were packaged in smaller baggies consistent with distribution.
Walling has been charged with three counts of possession with intent to deliver, transporting controlled substances into a correctional facility, third-offense DUI, obstructing an officer, and driving revoked for DUI, second offense.
