UPDATE: Escaped suspect, David A. Gibson has reportedly been detained by authorities.
Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies on Wednesday afternoon report having located Gibson at the 800 block of Hill Street after having received an anonymous tip regarding his whereabouts.
Gibson was taken into custody after being arrested on Felony Warrants for Fleeing in a Vehicle with Reckless Disregard, Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, and Receiving or Transferring Stolen Property.
He was transported North Central Regional Jail and a $50,000 cash-only bond was set by Wood County Magistrate Purkey.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office extended their thanks to community members who provided assistance in the investigation.

PARKERSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Authorities are seeking assistance from the public in determining the whereabouts of a Wood County man who was the subject of a recent traffic pursuit, after which he fled on foot.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, January 29, 2024, Deputy D. Alltop of the WCSO attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Spark at Roth Road and Route 50 for multiple reckless driving violations.
The vehicle failed to yield for the stop and a pursuit was soon initiated. Continuing along Roth Road, the vehicle would ultimately crash at the end of the road, at which point the driver – identified as David A. Gibson – born 11/18/1993 – exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
Felony warrants have been obtained for Gibson’s arrest on charges of Fleeing in a Vehicle with Reckless Disregard, Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, and Receiving or Transferring Stolen Property. Gibson also reportedly has an active felony warrant out of Monongalia County.
Authorities describe Gibson as a white male standing 6’2″ and weighing approximately 186lbs with green eyes. Gibson has multiple distinguishing tattoos on his face and head, including the phrase “Game Over” tattooed across his eyelids.
