MALDEN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Nearly a year following the homicide of a West Virginia House of Delegates employee, police are still searching for answers.
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), Detectives with the KCSO Criminal Investigative Section continue to seek answers and information into the tragic homicide that left a well-known Kanawha County man dead in January 2023.
Nearly a year has passed since deputies were called to the home of a House of Delegates employee, Mr. Edward “Eddie” Belcher II of 49 Distribution Drive in Malden.
It was on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, that deputies found the 63-year-old man murdered inside his home, and detectives are still actively searching for answers as to what took place that day.
Chief Deputy Joe Crawford stated a year ago, “I know someone has information that can help solve this investigation, and we need them to come forward.”
A year later, Chief Crawford says, “I remain hopeful that someone with the information we need will reach out and do the right thing. We will stay committed to working this investigation as a top priority until it is solved, so that justice may be brought to the Belcher family.”
Chief of Detectives at Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, Lieutenant Sean Suffer, says detectives have actively been working on the Belcher homicide over the last year. Lt. Snuffer said, “I know it’s discouraging to family, friends, and our community that progress in this investigation is moving slowly, but we have not and will not give up.”
Chief Crawford and Lt. Suffer confirmed that numerous tips have been investigated and detectives have conducted countless interviews throughout this investigation.
The KCSO has reviewed the evidence and continues to examine it to ensure nothing is overlooked.
Detectives are working with the Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office to gather information through the Grand Jury in hopes that it may give some clues to the identity of Belcher’s killer.
The KCSO reminds and encourages the community along with the friends and family of Eddie Belcher to continue reaching out with information.
