PARKERSBURG – The Woodrow Wilson ladies traveled north Saturday and brought the terror to the Spookfest Volleyball Tournament at Parkersburg High School, walking away with the championship title.
The Flying Eagles rolled through pool play unscathed with 2-0 wins over Hurricane, Hedgesville and Huntington.
Heading to the single elimination round, the top-seeded ladies from Beckley blasted the No. 8 seeded Highlanders, 25-16 and 25-11.
However, Hedgesville came to play in the semifinal round and won the only set surrendered by Woodrow Wilson all day with a 25-18 win.
Needing to win the next two sets, the Flying Eagles regrouped for a 25-20 in set two before winning the decisive third set 15-9 to advance to the championship match.
Meeting the host school for the first time Saturday, Woodrow Wilson (29-12-3) rolled to a 25-20 win in the opener and secured the title with a dominate 25-13 victory in set two over the Big Reds.
In the championship match, Abby Dillon had 21 assists, while ZaMahya Moss had nine kills. Alanna Penn recorded eight kills, Salia Harris had five kills and Dalya Hasan had three kills.
Moss and Dillon were named to the All-tournament team.
