PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital (PCH) is hosting a blood drive for the American Red Cross on Monday, Dec. 18. The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the education classroom on the fourth floor of the Parkview Center. PCH is located at 122 12th Street in Princeton.
“This holiday season the American Red Cross is encouraging the community to ‘Give Something that Means Something’ by donating blood,” said Lesia Bowling, PCH blood drive leader. “Princeton Community Hospital is happy to be partnering with the American Red Cross in the blood drive. We always have a great response from our area, and we appreciate everyone who donates, especially now that wintertime is here.”
Blood collected by the American Red Cross is available to be shipped to hospitals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
According to the American Red Cross, several factors contribute to a special need for blood donations in the winter. From a record number of people expected to travel, to seasonal illnesses, to the potential for hazardous winter weather, it can be difficult for the American Red Cross to collect enough blood during the winter months.
When donors give a blood or platelet donation this December, the Red Cross will say thank you with several exciting opportunities:
- Thanks to Prime Video and their new film” Candy Cane Lane,” those who give blood, platelets, or AB Elite plasma through Dec.31, 2023, will be entered to win a $1,000 Amazon.com Gift Card and a 65-inch Omni QLED Series Amazon Fire TV. Details are available at RedCrossBlood.org/Amazon.
- Those who give blood, platelets, or AB Elite plasma from Dec. 18, 2023, through Jan. 5, 2024, will receive an American Red Cross long-sleeved T-shirt, while supplies last.
