PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon following a tense standoff with deputies at Fox Ridge Apartments in Princeton.
According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded around 12:35 p.m. to Building A, Apartment 9, after management reported that Jessica Nelson had refused to vacate the unit despite a wrongful occupation order requiring her to leave by noon.
When deputies arrived, they said Nelson could be heard inside yelling and cursing. Management also warned authorities that they believed she might have access to firearms. Additional units were called to the scene, and the apartment was unlocked by a maintenance worker.
Deputies reported that Nelson shouted threats, including that she would “kill” officers if they entered. After repeated attempts to calm her failed, the Mercer County SWAT team used a shield to move in. Nelson was eventually restrained after resisting arrest.
A search of the apartment revealed a glass pipe and a lighter, which deputies believe accounted for the metallic sounds they heard during the encounter.
While being escorted from the building, Nelson allegedly kicked a deputy in the leg. She now faces charges of assault on an officer, battery on an officer, and obstructing.
