BEVERLY PIKE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two individuals are facing charges out of Randolph County following a shoplifting incident at a Sheetz convenience store location.
According to Deputy J. Wolfe of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, an investigation began regarding an alleged shoplifting incident reported by Randolph County 911 at the Sheetz located near Elkins off of Beverly Pike.
Members of management at the Sheetz location were contacted as part of the investigation. These individuals provided photographic evidence pertaining to the situation along with voided receipts of two subjects – one male and one female – who were said to have continually stolen items from the self-checkouts at the store.
Authorities say that evidence collected included receipts and photographs which indicated that, at 4:02 on March 8, 2024, Maurice Murray left with $10.58 worth of merchandise without paying. Murray was also involved in several similar instances of theft at the Sheetz location along with a female identified as Kristen Wilburn.
Such instances include that of March 10, 2024, when at 9:24pm, the pair failed to pay for $58.36 in merchandise, and March 14, 2024, at 10:32pm when the pair left with $39.27 in unpaid goods. On March 29, 2024, at 5:45am, the two left the location without paying for $34.79 in merchandise, and on April 1, 2024, at 4:17am, the pair left without paying for $36.78 in goods. The total value of the merchandise stolen by Murray and Wilburn is said to be $179.78.
Criminal complaints were completed on Maurice Murray and Kristin Wilburn on charges of Conspiracy to Commit a Misdemeanor and Fraudulent Schemes. These complaints were issued after being submitted to the Randolph County Magistrate.
Maurice Murray and Kristin Wilburn were reportedly taken into custody on Saturday, June 30, 2024, after being arrested at a Sheetz location.
