BECKLEY, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – On Thursday, November 4, 2021, a Raleigh County woman was sentenced for third-offense shoplifting after she was caught with nearly $700 in Lowe’s merchandise.
According to a criminal complaint, Amy Nicole Sowder said her drug addiction is what led her to steal a Wagner power tool, Ego leaf blower and Armor All gift pack from the company’s Beckley location on July 10, 2021.
Sowder, who had two previous shoplifting convictions from 2020, was arrested on July 13, 2021. She pleaded guilty to the charges in September of 2021.
On Thursday, Sowder was sentenced to one to 10 years after her motion for probation/ home confinement was denied by the court. She has already been placed in the custody of the Division of Corrections (DOC).
