Ryan Wesley Gibson, 24, of Bluefield, died at his home on December 3, 2023. Born December 21, 1998, in Princeton, he was the only son of Sonya Gail Gibson of Princeton and the late Paul Anthony Gibson.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his uncle, Jason Vanover; grandmother, Thelma Vanover; grandfather, Kenneth Bailey; and great-grandmother, Pearl Bailey.
In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Samantha Gibson, who was his soulmate and best friend; his daughter, Sofia “Sofie” Gibson, who he absolutely loved and adored; grandmother, Judy Bailey of Hensley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James & Mary Harris of Staunton, VA; sisters, Holly (Daniel) Johnson of Princeton and Lora (Brandon) Scott of Northfork; brother-in-law, Nicolas Harris, who was his close friend and fishing buddy; nieces, Hannah Walker of Davy and Miley Roberts of Premier; nephews, Ayden Walker of Davy and Cooper Johnson of Princeton; a host of aunts and uncles including Wesley (Indra) Johnson of Bluefield, Mark (Jackie Roberts) Vanover of Green Valley, and Melissa Bailey of Big Sandy; a host of cousins he was exceptionally close to including Hillary Johnson of Glenwood, Isaiah (Tiffany) Johnston of Myrtle Beach, and Aaron “Clutch” French of Welch; special friends, Robbie Mays and Greg England, whom he looked up to as big brothers, and Timmy Daniels, Zach Mustard and Cody Wagner.
Ryan loved his family and friends. He would reminisce about his childhood and how he missed those days. He was depressed when his father died. He lost a best friend. His family would lift him up and tell him his dad would be proud to see the accomplishments he had made. Ryan worked at Tobacco Hut in Bluefield, VA, and had a love for football like no other. He was a number 1 Raider’s fan and never missed a game. He had a passion for music. He would set for hours making a rap tape. Ryan would want everyone to be happy during this difficult time. He would want everyone to know that he is at peace with the Lord.
A celebration of Ryan’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Danny Blackburn officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour Sunday.
