COLUMBUS, OH (LOOTPRESS) – A semi-truck driver was arrested in Ohio this week for multiple first-degree felonies in relation to drug trafficking.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office reports that, on Monday, December 9, 2024, Deputies with the department’s Specialized Tactics & Investigative Narcotics Group conducted a traffic stop for a semi-truck being driven on I-70, west of Hilliard Rome Road in Franklin County, OH.
Upon the approach of the vehicle by responding members of law enforcement, K9 Deputy Justice was alerted by his partner Bruno to the odor of narcotics emanating from within the vehicle, leading to a search of the tractor trailer.
This search led to the discovery of 12 kilograms of cocaine and the subsequent arrest of the unidentified driver, a resident of the State of Texas, on felony drug trafficking charges. Deputy Dillon of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was also actively involved in the traffic stop and investigation of the vehicle in question.
“This arrest shows the diligent work of our deputies and their dedication to our Drug Task Force’s mission,” said the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office of the arrest of the semi-truck driver. “Our Specialized Tactics & Investigative Narcotics Group will continue to pursue and arrest any individuals who bring drugs into Franklin County.”
