BUCKHANNON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — State Sen. Bill Hamilton, R-Upshur, has officially filed to seek re-election to the West Virginia State Senate, representing District 11.
District 11 spans a large portion of central and eastern West Virginia, covering Barbour, Braxton, Pendleton, Pocahontas, Randolph, Upshur, and Webster counties.
Hamilton pointed to recent legislative accomplishments as motivation for running again, while emphasizing that more work remains.
“I am so proud of all we have accomplished, including the largest tax cut in state history, funding infrastructure, expanding broadband, supporting the Promise Scholarship, and boosting tourism,” Hamilton said. “But we can’t quit now. There are still families and businesses without reliable internet, miles of roads that need improvement, and a need for commonsense, conservative leadership in the State Senate.”
Hamilton was first elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates before winning election to the State Senate. District 11 is the largest state legislative district east of the Mississippi River by geographic size.
“We cover a lot of ground in the 11th District,” Hamilton said. “But we also represent some of the best West Virginia has to offer, from year-round outdoor recreation to the resources and workforce that industries are looking for when deciding where to locate and grow jobs. My commitment remains the same—to support our local resources and job creators as they expand in our region.”
Hamilton currently serves as chairman of the Senate Natural Resources Committee and the Senate Forest Management Review Committee. He also serves on the Agriculture, Economic Development, Finance, Government Organization, Pensions, and Workforce committees.
