WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Authorities are investigating a shooting and kidnapping that occurred Tuesday on Lower 2 Mile Creek Road in West Hamlin, Lincoln County.
According to Trooper J.D. Reedy, the suspect, identified as Derek Orme, 37, of Huntington, WV, fired multiple shots into a truck occupied by several individuals. Orme then forcibly removed one of the occupants, Chelcia Orme, 33, also of Huntington, WV, from the vehicle against her will before fleeing the scene.
The suspect and victim are reportedly married.
Law enforcement has conducted extensive searches in Lincoln and Cabell counties, but no leads have been found. Troopers are now seeking the public’s assistance in locating the suspect and a red 2002 Chevrolet Silverado regular cab with an unknown license plate.
Warrants have been issued for Derek Orme on charges including three counts of wanton endangerment, one count of kidnapping, and felony destruction of property. He has been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as a wanted individual. Chelcia Orme has also been entered into NCIC as an abducted person.
