SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – During the late evening hours of June 16, a drive-by shooting was reported in the Barger Springs area of Summers County, leading to the arrest of a suspect on multiple charges, according to the Summers County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputy J.L. Farmer received a 911 call about the incident on June 17 and launched an investigation. Authorities said investigators determined the shooting was allegedly connected to a narcotics transaction and identified a person of interest during the investigation.
On the afternoon of June 18, Sheriff Justin Faris and deputies conducted a felony traffic stop in the Forest Hill area of Summers County, where they took Codie Santanio into custody without incident.
According to the sheriff’s department, deputies recovered a firearm and a quantity of suspected methamphetamine during the traffic stop.
Santanio has been charged with two counts of wanton endangerment, possession of methamphetamine, destruction of property and firing a weapon within 500 feet of a dwelling.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the sheriff’s department said additional charges could be filed as more information becomes available.
