BELINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A swimmer was airlifted to the hospital after suffering a head injury from diving at a West Virginia State Park.
According to the Maryland State Police, on Saturday afternoon August 10, a helicopter crew from Cumberland sprang into action to rescue a swimmer who suffered a diving injury at Audra State Park in Belington.
The incident occurred when the swimmer sustained a head injury after diving into the river.
Trooper 5, an AgustaWestland AW-139 helicopter, was dispatched to the scene.
The aircraft hovered above the river while a Trooper/Paramedic was lowered onto a rock to provide immediate assistance.
The injured swimmer was then airlifted to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown where they received treatment for their injuries.
The condition of the swimmer has not been released.
