BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Beckley is just one day away from opening night of Theatre West Virginia’s Hatfields and McCoys stage production, with the cast and crew slated to light up Grandview’s Cliffside Amphitheatre throughout the remainder of the month and into July.
The show, presented as part of Theatre West Virginia’s 62nd season, will open the evening of Friday, June 17 at 7:30pm, and will explore the legendary blood-feud between the families from which the production takes its name.
The story of the Hatfields and McCoys has long been an indelible part of the Mountain State’s storied history, with Theatre West Virginia having first adapted the iconic tale over half a century ago.
The production will run into the month of July, with dates scheduled for Saturday, June 18th, Tuesday the 21st through Saturday the 25th, and Tuesday the 28th through Saturday, July 2.
All productions will be held from 7:30pm to 10:00pm, and tickets can be purchased here.
Pre-show music performances from Raleigh County singer/songwriter Matt Mullins will open productions on the 18th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 28th, and 30th of June.
Wednesday, June 29th will be Cancer Awareness Night, and attendees can arrive wearing pink for free admission.
Theatre West Virginia’s 62nd season opened last month with the musical production of Miss Dirt Turtle’s Garden Club for an eight-night run at the Tamarack Marketplace in Beckley.
This opener was unique for the institution in that it featured the first indoor season opening in its extensive history.
The show was also notable in that it featured several members from the Theatre West Virginia youth academy, whose participation endowed upon the interpretation of Daniel Boyd’s timeless tale of restless youth, a distinct authenticity.
Theatre West Virginia will also be hosting a number of summer concerts in the coming weeks, including their upcoming Tribute to John Denver presented by Ted Vigil, which will take place Sunday, June 19th.
This concert, along with others scheduled for the summer series, will be held at the Cliffside Amphitheatre in Grandview, and will begin at 7:30pm. The full lineup for the Summer Concert Series with Groovy 94.1 can be found here.
Additionally, Theatre West Virginia will be presenting Rocket Boys the Musical from July 8th to July 23rd, as well as the Wizard of Oz from July 29th to August 6th.
