PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (LOOTPRESS) — President Donald Trump cast a mail-in ballot ahead of a special election in Florida this week, according to records from the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections.
Election data shows Trump submitted his ballot earlier this month from his residence at Mar-a-Lago. The special election, held Tuesday, featured Democrat Emily Gregory and Republican Jon Maples competing for a Florida House seat previously held by Republican Mike Caruso.
Trump has been a longtime critic of widespread mail-in voting, frequently raising concerns about election security and advocating for tighter voting regulations. His position has remained a central part of his broader election policy agenda.
“Mail-in voting means mail-in cheating,” Trump said in Memphis on Monday, The Washington Post reported. “I call it mail-in cheating, and we’ve got to do something about it all.”
In response to questions about the president voting by mail, a White House spokesperson said Trump participates in Florida elections while splitting time between Palm Beach and Washington, D.C., and noted that existing policies allow for absentee and mail-in voting under certain circumstances.
The administration has also backed the proposed Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act, which would require proof of citizenship for voter registration and identification to cast a ballot. Supporters of the measure argue it would strengthen election integrity, while critics say it could create barriers to voting.
The legislation remains under consideration in the U.S. Senate and faces an uncertain path forward without bipartisan support.
The issue of mail-in voting continues to be a focal point in national political discussions, with differing views among lawmakers over access, security, and election procedures.
