MULLENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman faces charges for her involvement in the theft of medical equipment and defacing of facility property at Family Healthcare in Mullens, WV.
According reports from the Mullens Police Department, law enforcement was contacted on Friday, November 17, 2023, regarding a Destruction of Property complaint at Family Healthcare.
At around 3:30pm, a woman identified as Kandice “Dicey” Krawczyk and a male individual entered the clinic and, according to staff, “were acting strange and appeared to be ‘tweaking’ on some kind of drug.”
Once the individuals departed the clinic, a Welch-Allyn Otoscope valued at $550 was discovered to be missing from the room in which the individuals had been seen. Additionally, graffiti was discovered on an overhead cabinet in the room bearing the phrase, “Dicey-N-[redacted] Waz Here on 11-17-2023, TA.” The graffiti reportedly covered almost the entirety of the side panel of the cabinet.
Law enforcement analyzed a patient information form completed by Krawczyk during her time at the clinic and determined that the handwriting found on the sheet matched that of the graffiti discovered in the exam room. The defaced portion of the overhead cabinet is said to be valued at approximately $100.
One staff member advised that she had seen the male individual tuck an unknown item into his pants, but that she was unaware of what the item was at the time. This individual conveyed her suspicion that the item in question was the missing Otoscope, and all individuals present believed the two to have been responsible for the item’s disappearance.
The appropriate individuals were contacted and expressed their wish to have the individuals prosecuted and criminally trespassed from the clinic premises. When attempts were made to contact the patient via the provided phone number, the number was discovered to be a false “Text Now” number.
The suspect was taken into custody on November 29, 2023, on charges of Petit Larceny.
