BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – New River Community and Technical College’s Browning Social Services Club is planning for their annual fundraiser for The Un-Prescription Foundation for Autism, Volleyball 4 Autism, on Saturday, April 20, 2024. The event is held each year during April, Autism Acceptance Month.
“Preparing for and holding the Volleyball 4 Autism event allows our social services students to put to work what they have learned in their classes while giving back to our community,” said New River CTC Assistant Professor of Social Services Dr. Kelli White. “Currently, our students are looking for organizations to sponsor the event t-shirts along with donations for the silent auction at the event.”
T-shirt sponsorships are available for $100.
We are looking for any business or individuals that wish to help NRCTC with our Volleyball for Autism event,” said White. “We are in need of teams to play, donations for our silent auction – they can be goods or services – and we are looking for tshirt sponsors,” said White.
White started Volleyball 4 Autism over a decade ago to help provide more families with access to diagnostic services through Autism Health. Now, college students run the fundraiser.
Autism Health and the non-profit, The Un-Prescription Foundation for Autism, have helped hundreds of families by providing natural approaches to support underlying medical problems that can cause difficult behaviors and aggression, sleep problems, constipation, delayed language and poor social skills. Autism Health is located in Beckley, and funds raised through Volleyball 4 Autism help West Virginia families.
Volleyball 4 Autism will be held at Memorial Baptist Church, 1405 S. Kanawha St. in Beckley, and teams can register now. Registration for teams of eight is underway now through April 20.
Team registration is $100, and the event has two divisions, one for those who play regularly and one for those with less experience.
To register a team, donate or sponsor the event email volleyball4autism@gmail.com.
New River CTC’s Browning Social Services Club is composed of students in the college’s social services associate of science degree program. The two-year program prepares students for direct service jobs or to continue their education in a Bachelor of Social Work program.
