CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The northbound lanes of the West Virginia Turnpike have reopened after a tractor-trailer rollover late Tuesday night that involved multiple vehicles and caused a temporary shutdown.
According to the West Virginia Department of Transportation, the crash occurred around 10:36 p.m. near mile marker 62 northbound.
Officials said the tractor-trailer overturned and involved about 12 other vehicles, resulting in minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency gates were opened to turn traffic around, and Detour A was activated to redirect motorists while crews cleared the scene.
All vehicles involved were removed overnight, except for one truck that was off the roadway and scheduled for later removal. Crews also applied sand to the road due to motor fluids spilled during the crash.
All lanes reopened to traffic at approximately 3:23 a.m. Wednesday, officials said.
