CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for multiple West Virginia counties for Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), residents in McDowell, Wyoming, Northwest Raleigh, and Northwest Fayette Counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory that takes effect from 1 AM to 1 PM EST on Saturday.
Mixed precipitation is expected, with total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations ranging from a light glaze to one-tenth of an inch.
In Southeast Nicholas, Southeast Webster, Northwest Pocahontas, Southeast Pocahontas, Northwest Randolph, and Southeast Randolph Counties, a Winter Weather Advisory is in place from 7 AM Saturday to 1 AM EST Sunday.
Anticipate mixed precipitation, with total snow accumulations of up to 4 inches and ice accumulations of around one-tenth of an inch.
Meanwhile, Southeast Raleigh and Southeast Fayette Counties should prepare for mixed precipitation from 1 AM Saturday to 1 AM EST Sunday, with total snow accumulations of up to two inches and ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch.
Lastly, Mercer, Summers, Monroe, Eastern Greenbrier, and Western Greenbrier Counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory from 4 AM Saturday to 1 AM EST Sunday.
This region is expected to experience mixed precipitation, including snow, sleet, and freezing rain, with total snow and sleet accumulations of up to 3 inches and ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch.
Residents in these areas are urged to slow down and exercise caution while traveling, as untreated roads and sidewalks may become slick and hazardous.
Bridges and overpasses are particularly vulnerable to ice, and there is a risk of downed tree limbs and scattered power outages due to ice accumulations on trees and power lines.
