RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Raleigh County woman is facing multiple serious charges after an alleged domestic incident escalated into a violent confrontation involving a vehicle and a weapon.
Deputies were first dispatched to a home on South Street in the Calloway Heights area on April 3, 2026, for reports of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, the victim, identified as Galen Mark Gibson, told officers his ex-wife, Shaniqua Gibson, had been harassing him by throwing objects at his home and vehicle and repeatedly kicking his door. A witness at the scene corroborated his account.
Approximately three hours later, deputies were called back to the residence for another active domestic incident.
According to investigators, Galen Gibson had returned home with children when he heard loud banging outside. He reported that Shaniqua Gibson was again outside, striking his vehicle and attempting to force entry into the home despite being told there was a court order preventing her from entering.
The situation escalated when, according to the report, Shaniqua Gibson attempted to leave in a vehicle. Galen Gibson tried to stop the vehicle, but deputies say he became caught in the doorway as she drove away, dragging him approximately 50 feet. He was eventually able to free himself.
Authorities allege the suspect had multiple opportunities to stop the vehicle but continued driving.
Investigators say Shaniqua Gibson then returned to the residence and again attempted to enter the home by kicking the front door. When the victim approached, she allegedly picked up a shovel and attempted to strike him. He was able to disarm her after a brief struggle.
The suspect then left the scene.
Deputies say Shaniqua Gibson was arrested and charged with burglary, domestic battery, and attempted murder.
The investigation remains ongoing.
