LEWIS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Lewis County woman was arrested Sunday after allegedly huffing compressed air cleaner, assaulting her son, and threatening to kill him, according to law enforcement.
Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in progress at a residence on Whitt Road on May 31, 2026. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Carlos Whitt, who reported that his mother, identified as Joyce Nelson, had been inhaling “duster” and became irate.
According to the complaint, Whitt told deputies that Nelson shoved him during the altercation and threatened to murder him later that evening.
Authorities located Nelson inside an outbuilding on the property. She initially refused to come outside or speak with deputies but was eventually taken into custody after exiting the structure.
While investigating, deputies reportedly observed a can of duster on a bed inside the outbuilding.
Nelson was arrested and charged with domestic assault and domestic battery. She was transported to Central Regional Jail following the incident.
