CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia Secretary of State Kris Warner said the state has not been alerted to any credible threats to the 2026 general election following President Donald Trump’s primetime address to the nation Thursday evening on election integrity.
During his White House address, Trump discussed election security, voting systems and the integrity of U.S. elections while announcing the release of declassified election-related documents and calling for additional election safeguards.
The speech came as the president renewed his push for stricter election security measures ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
Following the address, Warner released a statement saying West Virginia election officials have not received any federal warnings about election security concerns.
Secretary Warner said, “West Virginia has yet to receive a call from the White House, the intelligence community, or any other federal agency, alerting us to a real, existing threat to our 2026 general election.”
“That’s great news for us, because it’s exactly what we’re seeing on our end, as well.
We remain open to any actionable intelligence that will help West Virginia strengthen its election security even further. Until then, we’ll stay the course,” Warner said.
