PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital (PCH) announced the final results of its TOGETHER WE CAN: Food & Relief Drive, revealing an extraordinary level of generosity from employees, patients, families, and local business partners.
At a public event held this afternoon, PCH leadership opened the doors of the hospital’s collection truck to display the impact of the two-week campaign. The drive resulted in:
- 17,400 pounds of donated food and essentials
- 14,500 meals provided for local families
- $24,500 in total food value collected
- 68 clicks to donate directly to a nonprofit providing food support
“This community has a remarkable way of stepping up for one another, and our employees lead that effort every day,” said Karen Bowling, PCH president and CEO. “Our team members are deeply committed to serving this region both inside our hospital and clinics and out in the community. They worked hard to make this campaign a success, and their dedication shines through in these results.
“We are equally grateful for our community and business partners, whose generosity and partnership helped elevate this effort and extend our impact to even more families,” Bowling added.
The success of the drive was made possible through the combined efforts of PCH employees and a strong coalition of community partners. Major contributors include Swope Construction Co., Harry Electric, STAR 95-9, Stantec, Trane and Grainger.
Their support along with countless donations from individuals across the region ensures that food banks and relief organizations throughout southern West Virginia will be better equipped to meet the growing need for assistance.
The TOGETHER WE CAN initiative was launched in response to increased food insecurity across the region and ongoing SNAP benefit delays. All items collected will be directed to local relief agencies serving families in Mercer and neighboring communities.
