UPDATE: MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A McDowell County murder suspect has accepted a plea deal.
According to Prosecuting Attorney Brittany Puckett, Kobe Brown accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.
Puckett says Brown took the plea deal in exchange for drug and conspiracy charges being dropped.
In September 2021, Kobe Brown and Raquel Adams shot and killed Marcus Edwards and set him on fire.
Raquel Adams pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in a previous plea agreement. A sentencing date for Adams has not been set.
A sentencing hearing will take place in March.
The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case with the lead investigator Corporal R.L. Blevins. West Virginia State Police and West Virginia State Fire Marshals Office, assisted the Sheriff’s office. “As always, we hope to have given the Edwards family closure and justice for Marcus. We continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers, says Puckett.”

UPDATE: MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Raquel Deshowna Adams has turned herself in to authorities in Mercer County.
Kobe Rashawn Brown is still wanted and considered armed and dangerous.

UPDATE: MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The McDowell County Sheriff’s Department has released the identity of the man who was murdered.
According to deputies, the victim is Marcus Darcell Edwards, 33, from Welch.

MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The hunt is on for two people wanted in connection to a murder in McDowell County.
According to McDowell County Deputies, earlier today, at around 4:30 pm, Deputies with the McDowell County Sheriffs Office and Troopers with the Welch Detachment of the State Police responded to a Murder in the Havaco area of McDowell County.
The name of the victim is being withheld until the family can be notified.
Deputies are searching for Raquel Deshowna Adams and Kobe Rashawn Brown.
