CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Charleston’s largest beer festival, Foam at the Dome, made its way back to Kanawha Boulevard on Saturday. There, over 70 breweries gathered in front of the Capitol in celebration of independent brewing and city revitalization efforts.
The event, which took place from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, featured over 200 beers and ciders, and acted as a showcase not only for breweries, but food vendors and artisans as well.
Rainy conditions were no deterrent for vendors and attendees who lined the streets for the sixth presentation of the annual festival event, for which Old Colony Realtors acted as a second-year presenting sponsor.
“The craft beer scene in West Virginia has grown so much, from only a couple breweries a decade ago to now over 30,” says local brewer Christopher Brown, who participated in the event with the Kanawha Valley Homebrew Club. “There’s some excellent beer coming out of West Virginia and it’s awesome to see our state moving forward in the craft beer industry.”
Three live entertainment acts were featured on the City National Bank Stage, including DJEJ, Heavy Hitters, and Matt Mullins & the Bringdowns.
Among the food vendors who participated were Dem 2 Brothers & a Grill, Gil’s Pit Beef, Mister Crabs Catering and Boil Truck, Twisted Sisterz BBQ & Catering, The Sugar Shanty, LLC, Island Fixx, and Big Marv’s Cafe.
Participating breweries at the event included Ace Ciders, 50 West Brewing, Big Draft Brewing, Weathered Ground, Country Boy Brewing, Short Story Brewing, just to name a few.
Along with Old Colony Realtors, event sponsors included City National Bank, Echo-Lit, Sunbelt Rentals, Electric 102.7 FM, The City of Charleston, Brand Yourself, Blenko Glass Co, AOMC, and C&H Taxi.
Hundreds of attendees came out to show their support for independent businesses as well as city development, as 100% of proceeds from ticket sales are earmarked for Charleston Main Street urban development programs.
