CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Charleston is quickly becoming the central hub of the Mountain State in the ongoing craft beer boom which is sweeping the nation, and the Capital City’s newest brewery looks to become a key local player in the rapidly expanding industry.
Fife Street Brewing will host its grand opening just in time for Memorial Day Weekend, presenting local residents with the opportunity to sample one – or all – of the establishment’s four main-line beers.
These will include Charleston Beer – Golden Ale, Charlie West Coast IPA, Chuck’s P-51 Porter, and Summers Street Wheat – Weissbier, as well as multiple small batch beers.
Located in Downtown Charleston on Brawley Walkway between Summers and Capital St, Fife Street Brewing will make its home at the location which housed the Fife Street Shoe Shop for nearly a century prior to the establishment’s closing in the Summer of 2015.
Co-owner Derek Godwin – a central figure in bringing together the necessary components to make Fire Street Brewing a reality – hopes the establishment can bring people together through traditional means,
“We want to connect folks through beer, food, and good old-fashioned conversation,” says Godwin. “From the hard-working, to the family units, to the out-of-towners, we’re working to cultivate a space where everyone can share their love of Charleston and beer together.”
Those following community events may have gotten an early taste of the unique flavors Fife Street will have to offer, as the brewery made an appearance at last month’s Foam at the Dome craft beer event on Kanawha Boulevard – coverage for which can be found here – where flavor samples and Fife Street merch were made available.
Head brewer Gil Peterson – whose experience includes brewing for Alabama’s Fairhope Brewing, as well as establishments in Nebraska and his native Michigan – was recruited to bring his expertise to the Capital City’s newest hotspot.
Fife Street Brewing will officially open its doors at 11:00am on Friday, May 27, 2022, and will serve the residents of Charleston until 10:00pm.
