CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On an evening of highly consequential electoral races, the State Senate District 10 matchup between Democrat incumbent Stephen Baldwin and Republican challenger Vince Deeds has been considered by many to be one of the most significant.
As the night of the 2022 general election winds down, Deeds appears to have claimed a decisive victory over the 5 year incumbent candidate.
While Deeds was reluctant to claim victory prematurely when reached for comment, Baldwin took to social media to address the public directly with regard to the result well before the final votes were tallied.
“I have put my whole heart and my whole soul into serving you,” said the Democratic state senator, who first assumed office in 2017. “Tonight we came up well short at the ballot box, and I’m disappointed because there’s so much work left to be done. But at the same time, I’m so proud of all the work that we did together.”
Speaking with LOOTPRESS as the District 10 race neared its conclusion, Deeds was enthusiastic about how the process was unfolding.
“I don’t want to jinx us, but we’re excited about how the whole district is treating us,” said Deeds, who claimed victory in a close race against Mike Steadham in the May primary elections.
“Everybody has really pulled together and we’re excited about where we’re at right now,” the former state trooper concluded.
The 10th Senatorial District of West Virginia encompasses areas in the Fayette, Greenbrier, Summers, Monroe, and Nicholas County regions.
